Let’s try this!  Hope this works.

We have been up and down all weekend with our feeding.  We have had to vent Emma often and Emma has been her playful self and smiling at everyone.  Her feeding is at 90% of where it should be and as long as Robin is used to dealing with the venting and adjusting feeds accordingly, they are going to let Emma go home today.  I think this will help everyone.  They are excited to be going home! Today is day 178 in the hospital since 9/11/07.  At the moment Robin is packing and waiting for the paperwork.  I will add a post later as to when they actually have left the hospital.

Emma is still in the hospital.  On Monday night Emma wasn’t tolerating her feeds, so they put her on IV fluids until her stomach could catch up.  She is on pedialyte right now and still being fussy and not herself.  A lab test came back with Emma having the C-dif infection again.  This one is very contageous and affects the stomach and bowels.  So that explains why she isn’t tolerating her feeding right now.  Mommy has been splitting her time between Emma and Michelle as Michelle got the flu bug as well.  Hopefully both girls will be feeling better soon.

Hi everyone,

Good news!  Emma is at home!

Robin called me about 11:00 this morning and said Mom, I need to have Emma in St. Paul by 1:00 and be checked out of the hospital here before that.  Can you help me pack and get things out of here?  So, I went to the hospital.  The nurse was changing the time for the St. Paul appointment as the doctor hadn’t signed the papers for Emma yet.  So we got everything packed up.  With my bigger vehicle (Mercury Mountaineer), we loaded that.  With the larger car seat, we decided to take that to St. Paul and leave Robin’s (Ford Focus) at Children’s in Minneapolis.  So we finally got all the paperwork and everyone loaded and on our way by 2:15.  Well, of course we knew we were going to be a few minutes late, but we did the best we could do.  When we got to St. Paul, the car seat gal had us bring in the car seat we had.  While I was getting the car seat, she was showing Robin how to use the Spelcast car seat and was fitting the car seat to Emma.  Well, when I brought in the car seat and we put Emma in it, the gal said that we had the Cadillac car seat and it was fine to use for Emma.   So we now have two car seats.  So there can be a car seat in John’s car and one in my car.  Robin will be using my vehicle so that it will be easier to get Emma in and out of it.  Robin and I felt that with her smaller car, there wouldn’t be room for Michelle or anyone else in the back seat if the bigger car seat fit in it.  I’m sure the car seat would fit, but it would be harder to get Emma in and out of the smaller car because of the cast.  We told this to John and asked him if my vehicle would fit in the garage.  He wasn’t sure it would.

Well, after we got done in St. Paul, we then went back to get Robin’s car and then headed home.  Once we got there, Emma was ready for a bottle.  So Robin got Emma situated as I unpacked the car.  Come to find out, my vehicle does fit in the garage.  (We did have to move Michelle’s bike first though.)

We moved Emma’s crib to the living room, so that it would be easy to keep turning her and watching her throughout the day.  Once we got the crib set up and put the gym in the crib and then added Emma, Emma started talking away.  She had been pretty quite while in the hospital.  John said that she was happy to be home and finally have both of her arms free to play with the toys.  (No IV now.)

John went and picked up a pizza to eat as we were getting some of the things unpacked and somewhat organized.

Then I left them and came home to send the update.  So, I guess we are all back home for tonight.  I will send other updates as things happen.

Thanks again for all your prayers and thoughts.  They are truly appreciated.

Love and God Bless!
