Emma is on two different antibiotics to see if we can’t get rid of the infection. Robin had Emma to the pediatrician last Friday and also to the respiratory doctor on Monday. They have her on two kinds of antibiotics and will keep her on them for a longer period than normal to see if they can’t keep the infection from coming back. It was a rough weekend with a fussy girl, but she seems to be doing better now. Tooth number 9 has arrived.

Emma is finding all kinds of different sounds and volumes. She lets you know when she wants something. She had her two year doctor appointment. She is 31-1/4 inches long and weighs 20 lbs. 4 ozs. She has found her feet and likes to pull off her socks. Of course, once the socks are off, they are then something to chew on. She has a quick and fast swing. If she doesn’t want something, she just lets it fly. So you have to sometimes go searching for where she threw it. The first place to look is across the room behind her. She has learned to hold herself up on her arms when she is on her stomach. She is getting stronger muscles because she likes to try to sit up from a laying position. She has started to pull herself forward when sitting in her stroller. She is becoming a strong girl. Still fussy at times, but we think that is from trying to cut more teeth. One tooth keeps playing hide and seek, so we haven’t counted that as a new tooth yet. So we have eight right now.

There is a problem with the video. I am currently trying to resolve the issues.
Here is the video of Emma eating her birthday cake! You need to click on the picture to start the video. Emma had a grand time giggling and talking and entertaining us all. Those present to watch Emma eat her cake were Mommy, Daddy, Michelle, Nana, G.G., Uncle Russ, Aunt Angie, Robyn, Solomon and Grandma Carol. Emma kept us all laughing all night. Watch the video as Emma eats the biggest portion of the cupcake!
Thanks, Grandma Carol

Getting Ready to Celebrate

Emma is getting ready to celebrate her second birthday (April 7th)!
We have had a couple of rough weeks, but I think we are on the mend. Emma has the very contagious C.Dif. infection again. (The one that causes stomach problems and diarrhea.) But knowing the symptoms and how Emma was reacting, Robin was able to catch it early and we have managed to keep Emma home. Emma has her moments when she is fussy, but getting her on the medicine has helped. There are still times that she just wants to cuddle. Emma is learning new sounds. She has developed the cutest giggle and excited squeal. If Michelle is laughing, Emma starts and then the two can’t stop – one sparks the other. Emma’s squeal comes when Daddy is playing with her. She still loves to cuddle and give kisses. Emma is continuing with several therapies. She has progressed to a development of a 6 month old. She is starting to put finger foods into her mouth. She knows exactly where it goes. If you have something on a spoon, she opens her mouth to say yes I want it. She will even reach for the spoon or other food you are handing to her. If she gets ahold of it between her thumb and finger, she even manages to get it into her mouth by herself. Robin said that this year Emma will be able to dig right in to her cake. So I will have pictures later this week. We have had little steps this last year, but are thankful for everyone of them. We are especially thankful for all the prayers and support we have gotten from everyone. It has helped us all.
