Smiles and Curls
Emma has been our smiley girl again. The nurse was in on Wednesday and said that Emma has lost a pound. She thinks Emma is just burning off all the formula she gets. But the nurse wasn’t concerned as Emma looks good and is so active. Emma is so active that she doesn’t want to take time to sleep. So once she falls asleep, she is out for a couple of hours. Emma has moved to a big girl carseat – one that faces forward now. As of Sunday, March 15th, Emma has 8 teeth. So 2 new ones in a week. Of course, that explains all the drooling. Emma is getting so long too. She is very lovable. When Daddy, Mommy, Michelle or Grandma pick her up, she is ready to give you kisses. And one kiss just isn’t enough. Last night when Mommy was holding her, Emma held both sides of Robin’s face and continued giving many many kisses.
Happy Spring! Love to all, Grandma Carol
Emma has been doing ok at home. The main struggle has been to get her to sleep at night and not want to play. She had a doctor appointment today and they thought she was doing well. She weighed in at 20 lbs. 2 ozs. She has been a happy girl and has even mastered sitting in her highchair. When I stopped by on Wednesday night, Emma was sitting in her highchair and had even learned how to move the handle on a toy that was attached to the tray to make it spin and lights come on. On Sunday tooth number 6 poked through. So, things are moving along a little at a time.

Emma was discharged late yesterday afternoon. Robin knew early in the morning that Emma would be going home. Emma woke up at 3:00 a.m. and was wide awake, ready to play and was babbling away. The nurse came in and told Emma that it wasn’t time to get up, it was time to sleep. Emma just smiled and giggled. So Robin knew that Emma was going to be going home. Robin had a care conference in the afternoon and then they were told Emma could go home. So Robin packed up and headed out. Thursday is bowling night for John and Robin so I go and babysit Emma. Well, John got delayed at work so called and asked if I could go bowl. So Robin and I took Emma and off we went bowling. John got there at the end of the first game. John picked up Emma from the bowling alley and headed home. Once John got Emma home and put her on the floor, she just rolled and rolled. When it was time for feeding again, John put her in her rocking chair and she then went to sleep. She was still sleeping when I dropped Robin off last night. (Day 193 for hospital count.) I don’t know how the night went, but I’m sure it probably went fine. When I know more, I will update again.

Emma is still in the hospital and not tolerating her feeds. They have went to pedialyte, but she can only tolerate it at 15 ml per hour. When they went to 20 ml per hour, her stomach gets distended and she has gas pains and bloating. Emma is just wanting to be cuddled and held right now. So Robin had to take a break last night and go home to get some rest. So, we are just hanging out at the hospital.
Big sister Michelle is getting ready to go on a school trip. They are going to Eagle Bluff (a nature type study place). They leave on Wednesday morning and come back on Friday afternoon. So Grandma and Daddy John have to help get Michelle ready with warm clothes and sleeping bag, etc.
Take care, love to all, Grandma Carol
